wendy and lucy

Last night I watched the film Wendy and Lucy, which I liked a lot.  Quiet and understated and encapsulating just a couple very important days in a character’s life.  In a lot of ways, it was similar to a great short story.  (It was based on a short story–and the story’s author cowrote the screenplay.)  Fiction has the advantage of interiority, but film has an advantage too: that a good actor can fill in empty spaces.
